Position Description Manages a unit within a department. Plans, organizes and develops goals and procedures for the unit. Represents the unit to administrators, outside agencies and others on relevant matters. Supervises subordinate staff.
Exercises authority in managing, planning, supervising, directing, controlling and coordinating activities of Building Maintenance Project Team resources and work centers to complete construction projects and structural modification projects.
Conducts post completion discussions / interviews with customers on projects. Inspects work to ensure standard were met and customer is satisfied.
Coordinates BMC efforts on construction or renovation projects and advises BMC Managing Director on project status, operational problems and trends. Reviews project cost at completion to ensure complete and accurate accounting.
Provides overall top level supervision for the Building Maintenance & Construction (BMC) Project Team of renovation, remodeling and minor construction projects. Establishes long and short range goals for subordinate personnel and proves general guidance.
Provides direction and management over the BMC Project Team personnel to include work control, project office, estimator and assigned craftsmen and workers on BMC Project Team and new construction projects.
Monitors and observes work site operation by periodic visits and direct management of major projects. Reviews new construction project plans and cost estimates. Prepares reports and correspondence and conducts studies.
Participates in emergency call-back on a rotating basis.
Reviews subordinate personnel progression and development.
Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree plus three years supervisory experience; OR a combination of education and/or supervisory experience to equal seven years.
Preferred Qualifications Minimum ten (10) years' experience in facility management, construction management, structural maintenance, or related fields. Minimum five of the ten years' experience in a technical field related to this position.
