St. Joseph Health Sterile Processing Technician - Full Time/Evening (8 hr shift -Instrument Room) in Lubbock, Texas

Job Summary:The Sterile Processing Technician performs routine work in the decontamination, assembly, testing, and instruments in a medical facility, under the supervision of the Supervisor of Sterile Processing.Essential Functions:.1.Use knowledge of sterilization and infection control principles to properly decontaminate instrumentation and equipment per manufacturer’s written instructions.Maintains Quality Patient Centered Support Service Standards.2.Appropriately operate equipment including, but not limited to, cart washers, washer disinfectors, computers, ultrasonic, scanners, telephones, and photocopiers.3.Performs routine instrument and equipment quality checks.Trained to assemble instrument Peel Packs.Store, maintain and distribute sterilized instruments according to best practice, policy, and surgeon preference cards.4.Assists with orientation of staff, both new, and those in assignment rotation.Acts as a liaison between Sterile Processing and the operating rooms.5.Maintains a clean and neat work area.6.Practices instrument care and handling.Minimum Position Qualifications:Education:High School Diploma or equivalentExperience:Vocational training in Sterile Processing, decontamination/sterilization procedures, supply distribution, or related job experience in a hospital, clinic, or medical laboratory may be given preference.Preferred Position Qualifications:High school diploma or GED, Sterile Processing class, training, or vocational educationNational Certification:CBSPD or IAHCSMMShift:Full Time/Day/8 hr shiftDifferentials are offered for Evenings, Nights, and Weekends & Holidays
