Job Summary:Under minimal supervision, Patient Account Representative II, may be required to perform a variety of patient accounting functions including; third party billing, third party account follow-up, self pay account follow-up, payment application and department support activities.Essential Functions:1. Without exception, executes all activities in a manner that exemplifies and communicated to all staff members and customers commitment to provide the highest level of customer service and quality performance.2. Serves as a leader and consistent example to the staff of quality service and performance while performing third party/government collections, self-pay collections, billing, and/or cashiering functions.3. Assists patients with the most complex and difficult financial related questions including establishing installment payments, advising of financial assistance programs and addressing any other question(s) regarding the status of their account in a courteous, efficient, effective, professional manner.4. Works more complicated daily follow-up of accounts by telephone and/or correspondence on outstanding account balances. Refer unrecoverable account balances to management staff for review of potential bad debt placement or potential financial assistance.5. Responsible for implementing collection policies and procedures and interviewing/counseling patients under the regulations of the Fair Debt Practices Act.6. Demonstrates analytical skills and advanced problem solving ability to resolve difficult customer and departmental issues.7. Demonstrates communication skills necessary to provide supervisory management in the absence of department management staff.8. Identifies opportunities for reducing department cost without negatively impacting customer service of quality levels.9. Ability to develop plans and new ideas to streamline departmental procedures.10. Demonstrates proficient knowledge of the patient accounting system and procedures within the area worked.11. Willingly accepts and volunteers to work any hours according to departmental needs.12. Ability to train new employees. Minimum Position Qualifications:Experience:Customer Service. Third party follow-up, government follow-up, patient collections, account resolution, billing, and/or cash applications. Two (2) years of Patient Accounting experience in a physician office, hospital, or medical collections.Preferred Position Qualifications:1 to 2 years of college or business experienceMedical Business Office experience in a physician office or hospitalThird party or patient collections experience
