Position Description:

The Texas Tech University Postgraduate Intercollegiate Athletics Internship is intended to provide on-the-job learning experiences for college graduates interested in pursuing a career in various areas of intercollegiate athletics. This program can last 12-36 months.

Future leaders will experience in using principles such as:

  • Applying a standard of ethics to policy and administrative context

  • Evaluating the effectiveness and efficiency of current operations within area of assignment

  • Communicating relevant information and ideas

  • Managing university resources to achieve organizational goals

Major/Essential Functions:

  • Assist in the prevention, assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation of injuries and illnesses; as well as assist in the day to day operations of the Men's and Women's Track and Cross Country sports medicine programs and other sports as assigned.

  • Appropriately utilizes injury management software.

  • Record and maitain medical information complying with HIPPA and FERPA.

  • Possesses and complies with appropriate certifications and licenses including BOC and/or Texas Licensure, CPR, First Aid, and AED training.

  • Acts in accordance with physician supervision and prescribed treatment plans.

  • Maintains communication and a cooperative relationship with coaches, administrators, parents and student-athletes.

  • Assists in administration of the student athletic training program.

  • Comply with all NCAA, Big 12 and Texas Tech University rules, regulations, and policies.

  • Acts in accordance with physician supervision and prescribed treatment plans.

  • Other duties as assigned

Preferred Qualifications:

NATABOC Certified Athletic Trainer. Specialized or certifications in Physical medicine or related areas. Medicine and Dentistry, Therapy and Counseling, Customer and Personal Service, Psychology, Biology, Clerical, Education and Training, Administration and Management, English Language, Critical Thinking, Active Listening, Speaking, Social Perceptiveness, Monitoring, Coordination, Instructing, Judgment and Decision Making, Service Orientation, Writing, Deductive Reasoning, Oral Comprehension, Oral Expression, Problem Sensitivity, Speech Recognition, Inductive Reasoning, Speech Clarity, Information Ordering, Written Expression, Finger Dexterity.
