Performs highly skilled mechanical and/or analytical duties in a lead position in the coordination and completion of projects. Work is performed under general guidelines using established procedures and evaluated on results obtained. Supervises subordinate employees.

The successful applicant should have substantial experience (>35 years) managing agricultural production, including tillage, planting, irrigation, and harvesting. The position requires extensive knowledge of irrigation systems, including row watering, center pivots, and drip irrigation. Knowledge of installation, repair, and programming and operations of these systems is required. The following equipment will be used in research associated with the position, and the applicant should have at least 20 years of experience with combines, forage harvesters, cotton strippers, boll buggies, module builders, tillage equipment, research planters, drills, tractors ranging from 25 HP to 600 HP, carbon steel, stainless welding, aluminum welding, design and fabrication, and assembly of tillage equipment.
Minimum Hire Rate:
Preference will be given to applicants with an associate’s degree or certification in welding and fabrication, extensive knowledge of ASME code section 8, stick, MIG, and TIG welding.
The position requires equipment transport, so additional preference will be given to someone with a CDL driver’s license and training for heavy haul, oversize, livestock, grain, dry van, refrigerated units, and flatbed trailers.
Experience and commensurate skills associated with working in an equipment dealership are essential.
Finally, much of the work will be connected to plot planting, field measurements, irrigation, harvesting, and in-season/post-season data collection, so a minimum of 5 years of experience working in agricultural research plots is essential.
