Job Summary: Provides professional nursing care for clinic patients within the scope of regulations outlined in the Texas Nurse Practice Act.Essential Functions:1. Demonstrates the ability to transfer scientific knowledge from social, biological, and physical sciences in applying the nursing process.2. Demonstrates knowledge and competency in performing baseline nursing skills. Maintains clinical competencies according to clinic standards.3. Assesses patients according to physician guidelines, which includes but is not limited to vital signs, history/present illness, allergies, medications, and visual acuity on general physicals as requested.4. Accurately identifies and determines priority of the patient's needs/problems, anticipating emergencies and complications of pathology.5. Administers all medications and treatments according to system policy and physician guidelines.6. Oversees and assists with appointment scheduling, lab and x-ray scheduling, routing all test results to physician, and reporting results to patients.7. Provides patient education and instruction as directed by the physician to include but not limited to, judgments and decisions on phone calls, advising patients with physician guidelines, procedure preparation, and in-home care.8. Maintains and reviews patient charts, records, and other pertinent information.9. Maintains patient care area and work area in neat and organized manner. Assists in ordering of supplies, medications, stocking examination rooms, and adhering to JCAHO and other regulatory requirements. Is responsible for equipment preparation and maintenance review.Minimum Position Qualifications: Education: Candidates must meet the criteria to sit for the NCLEX examination and become licensed in the State of Texas. Experience: One year of nursing experience Training: License / Certification: Current licensure in Texas or an approved compact state as a Registered Nurse or proof of application for licensure. Or, a New Mexico R.N. license required. Preferred Position Qualifications: BLS Certification
