Position Description Performs managerial work providing direction and guidance in setting and achieving goals and objectives; developing policies; reviewing guidelines, procedures, rules, and regulations; establishing priorities, standards, and measurement tools for determining progress in meeting goals; coordinating and evaluating program activities; and establishing and monitoring budget. May plan, assign, and supervise the work of others. Works under limited supervision with latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

Major/Essential Functions The Administrator must understand the holistic approach to student wellness and the importance of student well-being to academic success and retention at the university. Must be committed to addressing common prevention & wellness areas at a university, including alcohol & other drugs, gender & sexuality, violence prevention & response, safety, and general wellness. Must also be able to communicate effectively and be forward thinking and offer new ideas, problem solve and offer resolutions. Experience with alcohol and other drug education/services, violence prevention training, familiarity with relevant legislation (Title IX, VAWA, Campus SaVE), and strong presentation and interpersonal skills.

  • Assist with prevention/education efforts at TTU including comprehensive strategies, with focus related to alcohol/drug use. Work in coordination with Director/AD to plan programs, services, and events.

  • Administer Think About IT and eCHUG or other online educational tools as identified by RISE Director.

  • Assist in the design/implementation of programs such as Alcohol Awareness Week, bystander intervention, 21st Birthday Communications, tobacco cessation, safe ride/alternative transportation, Alcohol Free Weekend, and late night/alternatives programs.

  • Design and implement outreach efforts and presentations about alcohol and other drug awareness/education/resources. Audiences may include CA/Housing, Raider Ready, PADR, and student organizations.

  • Establish partnerships with departments, faculty/staff, student org & community agencies to support comprehensive prevention/education strategies. Coordinate partnerships with areas such as Tech Activities Board, student orgs, FSL, and Student Counseling Center.

  • Administer eCheckUp to Go programs; work with the Office of Student Conduct to coordinate student sanctions.

  • Conduct alcohol assessments and amnesty meetings with students who have low-level alcohol violations.

  • Collect data and administer surveys that gather information on students' drug use and alcohol behaviors. Determine most effective ways to gain student participation in this data collection.

  • Represent the department at RRO and other resource fairs to provide information about online education modules and RISE departmental programming.

  • Create social norming campaigns that address binge drinking, mixing alcohol and drugs, underage drinking, and illicit drug use.

  • Provide psycho-educational groups/seminars/other learning opportunities for students, including programs such as Alcohol Skills Training, Bystander Intervention, etc.

  • Develop and maintain program and promotion budgets. Pursue grant opportunities for the department.

  • Provide regular reporting on initiatives. Develop strategies to measure effectiveness of educational campaigns.

Occasional Duties May share supervision of student employees and peer educators.

Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in area of expertise or closely related area required. Three years of experience in planning, developing, or implementing programs/projects or research grants. Additional education may substitute for required experience on a year-for-year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in public health, human sciences, student affairs, or other related fields.

  • Experience with complex program planning, implementation, and evaluation.

  • Research and/or involvement related to the field of college student health, prevention, risk management, and wellness.

  • Knowledge of Texas Tech University policy, procedures, and programs related to student wellness and safety.

  • Knowledge of current compliance issues in Student Affairs such as the Violence Against Women Act.

Pay Statement Compensation is commensurate upon the qualifications of the individual selected and budgetary guidelines of the hiring department, as well as, the institutional pay plan. For additional information, please reference the institutional pay plan on the Human Resources webpage.
