Position Description Performs academic counseling or training at the individual level. May supervise counselors or other employees. Performance is based on individual counseling effectiveness and overall program results obtained.

Major/Essential Functions The provision of academic counseling and coaching services to students with specific learning disabilities, ADD and/or ADHD, and/or Autism Spectrum disorders and analyzing complex problems and management of student disability programs and services. Performance is based on individual student disability academic counseling effectiveness and overall program results obtained. Ability to multi-task; Strong written and oral communication skills; Crisis management skills; Knowledge of the ADA laws; Computer knowledge (power point, word, excel, etc.)

This position will provide short-term, personal, academic counseling as needed with assigned students, including discussing academic progress, tutoring support, study skills, time management and organization strategies, as well as other areas of concern that might affect the student’s academic progress.

In addition, this position will manage the tutor-match relationship, including providing quality support and guidance to tutors, communicating any issues and concerns to supervisory staff, and actively problem-solving any tutoring issues that may affect tutoring services.

Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree and two years experience in related area. Additional education in a related area may substitute for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in Counseling, Higher Education, Psychology or related field of study directly related to assigned work. One year of college student counseling experience. Additional education in related area may substitute for required experience on a year-for-year basis.

Minimum Hire Rate 15.64

Pay Statement Compensation is commensurate upon the qualifications of the individual selected and budgetary guidelines of the hiring department, as well as, the institutional pay plan. For additional information, please reference the institutional pay plan on the Human Resources webpage.
