Visiting Assistant Professor for Technical Communication and Rhetoric
We invite applications for a visiting assistant professor position to begin September 1, 2017. This position is a one-year appointment, with a teaching load of three courses each in fall and spring semester. Preference will be given to applicants who hold a PhD in technical communication, composition and rhetoric, or a related field at time of appointment. We are especially interested in applications from scholars with expertise in information design, web development, visual communication. Successful candidates will possess research credentials and a record of teaching excellence in the relevant areas. Professional experience in technical communication is also a desired qualification.
Candidates who have very strong records of scholarship supported by extramural funding and who have the proven capacity or clear potential to bring externally sponsored research to Texas Tech University are encouraged to apply. Service duties include program-building, as well as commitment to extra-curricular activities. Service to the department, college, university, and community is expected.
Texas Tech's program includes BA in Technical Communication, and MA in Technical Communication (onsite and online), and a PhD in Technical Communication & Rhetoric (onsite and online). We also offer graduate certificates in Grants & Proposals and in Teaching Technical Communication. Our program resides in the Department of English, which offers excellent facilities, including computer classrooms, the Usability Research Lab, the Media Lab, and the Letterpress Studio.
