Position Description Performs administrative and supervisory work related to the management of a specialized unit; usually reports to a Director. Responsibilities encompass the coordination of activities involved in the management of the unit or support services. Work is performed under general supervision with evaluation based on attainment of established goals; may be responsible for supervision of all employees assigned to the unit of responsibility.
Major/Essential Functions •Supervise the Residence Life Coordinator for Student Development, Residence Life Coordinator for Community Engagement and Service, Residence Life Coordinator for Civic Engagement and Outreach, Residence Life Coordinator for Social Justice Education, and Residence Life Advisor
•Assist with the selection and supervision of a summer ACUHO-I Intern
•Supervise a variety of paraprofessionals, which may include Student Assistants, Social Justice Advocates, and executive board members
•Facilitate area meetings with staff to discuss progress on goals and opportunities for new initiatives or collaborative projects
•Complete on-going and semester evaluation of staff
•Participate in campus-wide and area training coordinated by Residence Life, USH, and Division of Administration and Finance.
•Facilitate the staff competency tool, as provided by the Assistant Director for Training and Development
•Assist in the development and implementation of training for elected student officers each semester
•Train Community Advisor staff on successful implementation of community service projects
•Provide ongoing advisor training for professional staff advisors throughout the academic year
•Assist and support the RLC-SD in the direct advisement of Residence Halls Association (RHA)
•Serve as the primary advisor for the National Residence Hall Honorary (NRHH)
•Serve as the primary advisor for the Student Staff Leadership Council (SSLC)
•Assist and support the RLC-CES in the direct advisement of Raiders Helping Others (RHO)
•Assist the RLC-CES in the facilitation of a residential Alternative Breaks program
Serve as the primary adviser and campus coordinator of Carol of Lights Committee
•Work with the Texas Tech University Police Department, Student Counseling Center, and other agencies on immediate response to incidents in the residence halls
•Manage student organizational travel within the department, ensuring compliance with risk management protocols.
•Exercise sound judgment and ethics to handle situations appropriately
Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in related area required plus four years progressively responsible supervisory experience. Additional education may substitute for experience on a year for year basis.
Preferred Qualifications A Master’s Degree is preferred. Four to Six years of post-Master’s work experience is preferred, but not required.

Pay Statement Compensation is commensurate upon the qualifications of the individual selected and budgetary guidelines of the hiring department, as well as, the institutional pay plan. For additional information, please reference the institutional pay plan on the Human Resources webpage.
