Position Description A job involving an appointment for less than four and one-half months which are of a non-recurring nature.

Must work cohesively and promote a productive atmosphere.
Record procedures and data in laboratory notebook.
Conduct laboratory support activities (ordering supplies, preparing solutions, washing and sterilizing surgical instruments, etc.)
Assist P.I., postdocs, and students in misc. tasks (examples: training new students, postdocs and other investigators in various scientific procedures; library work; preparation of talks, grants and publications.)
This employee is responsible for aiding graduate and undergraduate students in their research by providing advice or direct help when necessary.
Maintain yeast growth experiments and cultures.
Perform yeast genetic and molecular biology techniques and experiments, including but not limited to: sporulation, haploid dissection, genotyping, PCR, cloning, gel electrophoresis, cell culture, and use of dissection microscopes.
Required Qualifications Due to the broad nature of work found in this job, minimum qualifications for a particular job will be determined by the hiring manager. The qualifications will be commensurate with level and nature of work to be performed.

Experience with yeast cell culture techniques
Ability to work carefully and to pay attention to detail
Knowledge of molecular biology laboratory techniques and procedures
Familiarity with common laboratory equipment and microdissector microscopes
Experience handling sensitive substances
Understanding of scientific method, biology, and biochemistry
A working knowledge of computers
Ability to communicate well for complete understanding between employee, supervisor and other personnel in the laboratory
Ability to follow and implement general instructions
Ability to anticipate needs and identify problems
