Position Description Performs skilled mechanical and/or analytical duties in the coordination and completion of projects. Work is performed under general guidelines using established procedures and evaluated on results obtained. May supervise subordinate employees.

Major/Essential Functions

  • Safely performs skilled maintenance tasks involved in the upkeep, repair, service, test and calibration of electronic temperature and time control devices, alarm systems and laboratory equipment as required.

  • Performs preventive maintenance on HVAC energy management systems and fire alarms.

  • Inspects, calibrates and tests electronic temperature control, alarm notification and time devices.

  • Maintains records of materials and labor expended for each job assignment.

  • Installs computerized energy management systems.

  • Provides after hours overtime work as required.

  • Participates in emergency callback roster on a rotating basis.

  • Completes other tasks as assigned by shop foreman.

  • Assesses job or project material requirements and prepares requisition for materials from supply warehouse or vendor. Reviews job or project material requirements and prepares cost estimates.

Required Qualifications High school or equivalent and four years experience. Additional job related education may substitute for required experience on a year for year basis.

Must have a valid driver’s license and be insurable to operate University vehicles. This position will be subject to a driving record check.

Must meet minimum physical fitness requirements.

Minimum Hire Rate 11.45
