Position Description Performs semi-professional work on various projects and programs. Work is performed under supervision within established policies with latitude for independent judgment. Employee performance is based upon a review of completed work and overall results obtained. May supervise specialized clerical section.
Provide service to the Texas Tech community at the Library Makerspace and through any virtual service points by answering questions, assisting patrons with constructing 3-D designs, providing troubleshooting, promoting Library resources, and contributing to usage statistics.
Working with the Makerspace Librarian to hire and train student assistants as needed to provide consistent, quality service.
Instructing the Libraries patrons on makerspace technology during point-of-service interaction in the Makerspace Lab and during workshop or outreach demonstrations. Instruction may often include creating and developing teaching materials, handouts, and online resources for patron use.
Maintaining the Library Makerspace hardware and software for optimal performance. This will require learning about the technology, performing troubleshooting, and working with the Makerspace Librarian and Library LTMS to resolve issues.
Assisting with the maintenance and organization of the Library Instruction Lab.
Adhering to all appropriate instructional policies of Texas Tech University, Texas Tech University Libraries, and internal department policies.
Required Qualifications High school plus 4 years experience. Additional education may substitute on a year for year basis.
Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree with coursework in computer science, engineering, art, design or other related areas or a combination of related education and/or experience. Familiarity with Autodesk 3D software programs; experience using 3D printers and scanners; customer service or public speaking experience.
