Position Description General Position Description:

Coordinates a section in a department that has institutional oversight responsibilities. Responsibilities involve the coordination and supervision of the various functions and aspects of a specific program or departmental project as well as the monitoring of program staff and operational procedures. Work is performed under general supervision with evaluation based on results obtained. May supervise program staff, volunteers and/or students.

Major/Essential Functions Under the direction of the Managing Director of IES:

  • Serves as a Section Coordinator in the Office of International Employment Services with institutional oversight responsibilities.

  • Assists in the preparation and processing of non-immigrant and immigrant petitions including H-1B, E-3, TN, O-1, EB-1, EB-2 and EB-3 filings.

  • Coordinates with departmental contacts and foreign national to obtain necessary documentation for immigration filings and immigration compliance.

  • Serve as Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO) for the J-1 Exchange Visitor program

  • Maintain immigration case management databases and ensure records are complete.

  • Assist in maintenance of all compliance records including LCA Public Access Files; PERM Audit Files; and I-9 records

  • Assist with Exchange Visitor orientation.

  • Maintain accurate I-9 records for all international employees (sponsored and non-sponsored)

  • Liaise with internal and TTU System partners and stakeholders on matters related to international employees and exchange visitors.

  • Maintain and cultivate necessary contact with appropriate government agencies, departments and sponsors as needed to support international employees and exchange visitors.

  • May supervise interns and junior staff.

  • US citizenship or lawful permanent residence require per federal immigration regulations.

Occasional Duties Occassional duties and projects including intra-departmental HR projects.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree plus two (2) years of experience in US employment immigration, especially H-1B, E-3, O-1, TN and employment-based permanent residence.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of F-1 and J-1 regulations

  • Experience with SEVIS

  • Knowledge of federal immigration compliance and reporting requirements.

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a time-sensitive environment with multiple deadlines.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with individuals of diverse backgrounds

  • Firm proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and four years of employment immigration experience.

  • Experience with Banner and immigration data management software.

  • Self-directed and motivated

  • Active engagement with NAFSA, AILA or other professional immigration or international education organization.

Pay Basis Hourly

Minimum Hire Rate Compensation range is $16.04 to $24.04.

Pay Statement Compensation is commensurate upon the qualifications of the individual selected and budgetary guidelines of the hiring department, as well as, the institutional pay plan. Compensation range is $16.04 to $24.04.
