Job Summary: Under the direction of the Section Supervisor, the Medical Technologist employs professional knowledge and judgement to perform technical, physical, clerical and quality assurance functions in the department.
Performs various chemical, microscopic, morphologic and other tests as assigned, independently, and in accordance with established procedures and policies.
Evaluates the validity of results, accurately records and reports results.
Performs quality control, standardization curves, calibration, and equipment maintenance procedures as directed; recognizes and reports problems and documents corrective action.
Responsible for the completion of all procedures scheduled during the work shift, and for maintaining a clean, neat and organized work area.
Performs various technical and clerical tasks related to receiving, processing, and instrument interfaces related to departmental operating functions.
Effectively uses all computer equipment, programs, and instrument interfaces related to departmental operating functions.
Maintains required records and prepares various reports, as requested.
Minimum Position Qualifications:
Education: Bachelors degree or equivalent to meet CLIA requirements. Bachelors degree in Medical Technology or Clinical Lab Science or equivalent science.
Preferred Position Qualifications:
Certification by the Board of Registry of the American Society for Clinical Pathology.
Minimum of one  year work experience in a clinical laboratory, preferrably in a hospital setting.
