Job Description:The Juvenile Supervision Officer will direct the activities of detained youth in all areas of programming in accordance with departmental policy. The Juvenile Supervision Officer will also perform admission and screening duties as needed. Juvenile Supervision Officers monitor cluster conditions for safety and damages and maintain professional department/appearance. Juvenile Supervision Officers must observe safe work habits, attend all required meetings and workshops to keep abreast of current activities, policies and procedures and enhance professional skills/certifications, and ability to maintain the integrity of private, confidential information.
To be eligible for consideration as a Juvenile Supervision Officer a person must: (1) meet NCIC/TCIC employment guidelines; (2) must pass a drug test and physical; (3) be of good moral character; (4) be emotionally suited for working with children; and (5) be at least 21 years of age. Eligible applicants must have graduated from an accredited high school or alternative school or college/university. High School or College/University transcripts will be required, good working phone, valid Texas Drivers license, reliable transportation and proof of liability insurance. Physical requirements consist of ability to lift up to 50 lbs, ability to run in response to unit emergencies, unlock doors, occasional squatting, bending and kneeling associated with filing and/or restraining residents.
