Position Description Assist management with supervision of the operations and coordination of assigned area. May supervise second shift (evening/night) use of facilities and remote sites. Work is performed under general supervision in accordance with established policies and procedures. Performance is evaluated based on the effectiveness and efficiency of operation of the area supervised. Supervises other staff and/or student employees.

Major/Essential Functions

  • Document various maintenance and safety issues by means of incident reports and work orders for immediate repair and/or later attention by daily University Student Housing staff. Review, edit, and approve all incident reports at the conclusion of each shift & compile and distribute daily shift summaries.

  • Provide administrative support and oversight of Facility Coordinator Unit.

  • Document employee performance and assist with development of evaluations. Engage in routine disciplinary actions as required.

  • Establish annual goals and objectives for the unit. Review reports and compile information for written reports.

  • Direct employee selection in accordance with university policies and procedures for both permanent and temporary positions.

  • Provide and plan staff development/training for Facility Coordinator personnel.

  • Recommend and implement manpower alignment including shifts and days off.

  • Plan, prepare, and direct nightly operations of the Facility Coordinator unit and respond to facility related issues and emergencies.

  • Provide minor maintenance repairs within the residence halls including, but not limited to, replacing smoke detector batteries, resetting tripped breakers, changing light bulbs, repairing exit signs, & emergency housekeeping.

  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in written manner, with supervisor, residents, parents, visitors, and staff.

  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with other Texas Tech University departments including: Physical Plant, University Police Department, Residence Life, Emergency Maintenance, and others.

  • Perform other tasks as assigned by supervisors.

  • Assume manager duties in the absence of the manager for short or long periods of time.

  • Must be able to walk 3-5 miles in an 8-hour shift.

  • Must possess and maintain a valid Texas Driver's License.

  • This position is a Security Level II position which requires the selected applicant to complete a background check and drug test.

Required Qualifications Completion of high school or the equivalent plus five years progressively responsible office administration or supervisory experience. Additional education may substitute for required experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to work under limited supervision and to remain calm and demonstrate good judgment in high-stress situations.

Minimum Hire Rate 13.41

Pay Statement Compensation is commensurate upon the qualifications of the individual selected and budgetary guidelines of the hiring department, as well as, the institutional pay plan. For additional information, please reference the institutional pay plan on the Human Resources webpage.

Travel Required Up to 25%

Schedule Details Variable schedule 10:00 p.m. - 6:00 a.m. Daytime meetings/functions as necessary.
