Position Description Performs supervisory and coordinative work in the operation of a specific program or departmental project. Responsibilities involve the coordination and supervision of the various functions and aspects of a specific program as well as the monitoring of program staff and operational procedures. Work is performed under general supervision with evaluation based on results obtained. May supervise program staff, volunteers and student assistants.

Major/Essential Functions Provides support in the coordination and supervision of programs in the area to which the job is assigned. May supervise subordinate staff, student employees and/or volunteers. Provides support in the coordination and administration of programs in the Office of Curriculum. This person works independently with a high level of initiative to meet the needs of faculty, students and numerous support staff. The individual who fills this position will have two major areas of responsibility in the Office of Curriculum. First, this individual will serve as Block Coordinator for both the Early Clinical Experience I and II blocks. Second, this individual will coordinate the activities related to the development of a longitudinal and integrated curricular thread related to Gender-based Medicine. Responsibilities as Block Coordinator: 1. Provide academic and administrative support to Assistant Dean for Basic Science Curriculum, and Block Directors and faculty responsible for ECE courses. 2. Coordinate the annual review and revision of course syllabi and ensure that relevant faculty have access to student feedback related to relevant blocks and other courses. 3. Coordinate assessment activities for both blocks. 4. Prepare and maintain student performance records and ensure that reports on individual students are available to Block Directors and curriculum administrators. 5. Coordinate scheduling of block activities, including but not limited to, scheduling of lectures, small group sessions, clinical activities, simulation activities. 6. Prepare block materials for students and faculty. 7. Maintains curriculum management tools and websites related to these courses. 8. Provide in-class support as necessary and performs other tasks as assigned by Block Directors. Attends Staff Coordinator Meetings. Responsibilities as Gender-based Medicine curriculum coordinator 1. Coordinates activities of curriculum-design groups and communicates effectively and regularly with project director(s). 2. Coordinates the production and maintenance of reports, documents, student feedback and other material relevant to project. 3. Coordinates integration of materials produced by design team into curriculum. 4. Maintains electronic and other records related to project.

Required Qualifications High school graduation plus five (5) years progressively responsible related experience; additional related education may exchange for required experience on a year for year basis.

Ability to handle a considerable work load in the midst of frequent interruptions. Need strong multi-tasking skills and the ability to keep cool under pressure. Be able to manage uncertainty, rapid, change, ambiguity, surprises, and a less defined environment

Bachelor’s degree in a related field plus one year related experience, or a combination of related education and/or experience to equal five years. Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing and possess the ability to communicate policies and procedures to faculty and staff. Must be able to evaluate needs/problems that arise and develop a logical way to address them within the operating procedures of the institution. Should have the ability to address problems with a creative yet practical approach. Must have the ability to work WITH as well as FOR the faculty, as well as for persons of different cultures.

Minimum Hire Rate 12.42

Pay Statement Compensation is commensurate upon the qualifications of the individual selected and budgetary guidelines of the hiring department, as well as, the institutional pay plan. For additional information, please reference the institutional pay plan on the Human Resources webpage.
