Position Description Under the supervision of a Medical Doctor (MD) or Audiology Doctor (AUD), assesses and treats persons with hearing, balance, and related disorders; including but not limited to hearing aids, cochlear implants, BAHA, balance function assessments & rehabilitation, electrophysiological measures of hearing and balance. May perform research related to hearing and vestibular problems.

Major/Essential Functions

Schedule patients for evaluation and treatment and entering patient information into the computer system.

Completing proper documentation, including evaluation, Audiologyreports, and placement of an individualized plan of care withfunctional goals in the patient's medical record within 24 hours of initial contact.

Complete proper documentation including evaluation, Audiologyreport, precautions, contraindications, and placement of anindividualized plan of care with functional goals in the patient'smedical record within 24 hours of initial contact. And completing daily documentation.

Assess the needs of the patient by assessing and documenting thelearning needs of the patient/caregiver and supply the appropriate instructions to the appropriate learner.

Assess the need for adaptive equipment, attaining an order for it and demonstration use of the equipment.

Plan, coordinate, and provide appropriate habilitative/rehabilitative intervention for the hearing impaired patient.

Assess and recommend needs for other services and participating in Telephone Performed in a the discharge process.

Confer with the person(s) most closely associated with the activemanagement of the patient and keeps them informed of any additional patient needs, treatment modifications, and/or progress.

Will have the responsibility of providing audiological care including the completion of all required paperwork/documentation to patients of the Texas Tech Physicians Department of Otolaryngology – Audiology Services under the supervision of a licensed audiologist.

Diagnostic services include behavioral and electrophysiologic assessment of hearing as well as comprehensive balance function testing.

Treatment services include the selection, fitting and verification of hearing aid amplification and other assistive and implantable devices.

Required Qualifications Currently enrolled in a terminal degree (MD, PhD, AUD) program of which this internship is a requirement for completion of the program.

Preferred Qualifications Interns are encouraged to participate in clinic-based research. Minimum qualifications include: Bachelor's degree, current enrollment in Au.D. program and eligible to start their fourth year Au.D.externship. Applicant must be eligible for Texas Intern license.
