Position Description Performs administrative duties in the management and coordination of a large specialized project and program. Under general supervision, performs varied and complex administrative duties requiring independent judgment and the application of established policies and procedures. May provide supervision and direction to clerical, paraprofessional or professional staff members.

Major/Essential Functions The Office of Student Conduct is responsible for the administration and management of the Code of Student Conduct at Texas Tech University. As the Associate Director, this professional position is primarily responsible for the administration and adjudication of alleged violations of the Code of Student Conduct referred to the Office of Student Conduct. The successful candidate must have knowledge of general conduct practices at an institution of Higher Education and must have the ability to assist faculty and staff in implementation and adjudication of such polices/procedures. As a member of the administrative team of this department, the Associate Director for the Office of Student Conduct also assists the Division of Student Affairs in a number of areas including but not limited to: adjudication of Title IX cases, student organization investigations and Academic Integrity cases.

The Associate Director of the Office of Student Conduct assists the Managing Director in the following roles: conduct hearing officer, supervision of Assistant Directors, coordination of the Hearing Panel process to include identifying and training of the Hearing Panel pool members, strategic planning/assessment, publications and marketing, drafting and implementation of policies and procedures, yearly review of code of student conduct, and oversight of conduct cases referred to the Behavior Intervention Team. This position should be actively involved in both university committee participation as well as the various professional affiliations.

Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in the area of specialization or closely related field. Four years of related administrative and technical experience. Additional job related education may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

Preferred Qualifications Master’s or Law Degree preferred. Minimum of three years of full time experience within Student Affairs or related field and two to four years of experience as a conduct hearing officer in the collegiate setting preferred. Proven knowledge in the following areas: student conduct practices, due process, compliance mandates and risk management. Previous experience in creating and implementing university strategies for conduct policies and procedures preferred. Proven organizational skills, effective time-management, presentation and public speaking, marketing, implementation & evaluation of complex programs preferred. Experience in motivational interviewing in regard to drug and alcohol use as well as experience in Bystander Intervention Training preferred. Demonstrated ability in administration, budgetary processes, evaluation & assessment of personnel is preferred. A successful candidate must support the tenets of educational student conduct processes and practices. Computer literacy in desktop publishing, database management, spreadsheet management, graphic design and word processing preferred. Flexibility and adaptability preferred.

Minimum Hire Rate 4185.67

Pay Statement Compensation is commensurate upon the qualifications of the individual selected and budgetary guidelines of the hiring department, as well as, the institutional pay plan. For additional information, please reference the institutional pay plan on the Human Resources webpage.
